You may be wondering, why does a virtual conference cost money?
Here are a few reasons:
Production: This is not a Zoom event! The platform we’ve chosen allows attendees to choose workshops during the event, create meeting rooms to meet with other attendees, and allows us to create a higher quality program.
Swag Box: Each person that signs up will receive a swag box in the mail before the event. It will be filled with different items connected to various Hispanic cultures for attendees to enjoy and also a ticket for giveaways.
Event Expenses: As with an in-person event we still incur expenses for speakers and production. Typically, you would have to pay for travel, hotel, food, and the conference fee, but this year we don’t have most of those expenses! We think the fee will be a worthwhile investment into an attendees walk with Jesus.
We are learning a lot about virtual events and to be effective we have had to look at platforms that fit the needs of our attendees and these platforms come at a higher cost.
What virtual platform will be used during Juntos and what browsers work best?
The virtual platform will be Hopin.
The latest versions of Chrome or Firefox guarantee the best experience. Please avoid Brave, Safari, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge since these browsers lack the modern web technologies support necessary for online events to run in a web browser.
Mobile browsers: Safari on iOS and Google Chrome on Android.
Note: Sometimes, third-party extensions can affect the experience blocking some of the Hopin interface elements. That’s why we also recommend opening the event in Incognito mode (command+Shift+N on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows) on Chrome or Private tab (command+Shift+P for macOS or Ctrl+Shift+P for Windows) on Firefox.
How do I join the Juntos event?
Once you’ve registered you will receive an email confirmation. Toward the bottom of the confirmation email click on the “accept registration” button. This will take you to the Hopin platform to create your online profile.
Once in the Hopin platform there is a button that allows you to add the event to your calendar. The link to join the event will be included..
One day and one hour prior to the event you will receive a reminder email.
How do I talk with my friends in Hopin?
Chats for everyone
There are multiple chat channels in an online event on Hopin platform. Each one serves a different purpose.
Event chat — global event chat where all participants can post messages.
Stage chat — chat with a Stage-related discussion all attendees have access to.
Workshop or Session chat — each session in Workshops has dedicated chat rooms. Attendees who are off-camera can chat to interact with people on camera and vice-versa.
Booth chat — like Workshops, each booth has its own chat for group discussions and interaction.
Meeting chat — in Networking, a private 1:1 chat channel is available to the participants.
Direct messages — anyone can send messages to an individual at an event on Hopin via DMs in the People tab. To send a DM, find the person you wish to chat with in the People tab, click their profile photo, and send a direct message to them.
How do I maximize my Hopin experience?
There are five areas to be aware of in Hopin.
The Reception area is the welcome page or “lobby” of the event. Here you can quickly find out what’s happening at the event currently: the organizer's welcome message, sponsors, the schedule, and speakers. The Reception area is best used for announcements, important links, sponsor messages, and event updates.
The Stage is where you’ll see the keynote speakers, testimonies, panels, worship, and interviews.
The Workshops segment of Hopin delivers the best experience for group discussions and breakout rooms. In Workshops, the attendee has the opportunity to interact with the speaker and ask questions on camera or via the chat function.
The Networking segment on Hopin is pure engagement and is similar to one-on-one meetings on a FaceTime call. This segment is designed to recreate the “coffee-in-the-lobby” conversations or watercooler chats that are important at an in-person event. The Networking area automates the discovery of new connections. When an attendee participates in the Networking, they are matched with a random attendee and meet for a set time preset by the organizer.
Attendees can click the Connect button during a call to exchange contact information and after the event the newly made contacts will appear at the Connections page of their individual Profile.

The Exhibit Hall area is the virtual exhibitor hall with vendor booths.
